Your class will be writing ONE group paragraph(s) for the story (not each student). The first class will write the intro paragraph(s). Then the next class will read the paragraph(s) and decide how they want to continue the story. This will continue until the last class on the list writes the ending and gives the story a title. Your paragraph(s) will be typed onto this Wiki page. You will also need to send (email as .jpg) the 3 pictures to your Teacher Leader. The pictures should illustrate events in the section that your class wrote.

Please visit the Instructions Page for more information.

Please add your information to the chart. This way your classes can "see" where the story is traveling and have a chance to actually "meet" some of the students who collaborate on their story.

The Mystery at Lake Whiteheart

Tick Tock Tick Tock. Juliet couldn't sit still. It was the last day of school before fall break, and just her luck: she had detention. Juliet could hardly wait until she got home. She needed to talk her mom out of sending her away. She wanted to spend the week of fall break with her best friend, Emily, but her mother had other ideas. Instead, she would be going to a cabin near Lake Whiteheart with a bunch of strangers she’d never met. What she didn’t know was that her week off was going be worse than she had imagined.

After Juliet unpacked, she lay miserably on the bottom bunk of Cabin 9. She opened up her diary and began to write.“Dear Diary, It’s a dark and stormy night. When I look out my window, I can see the bright, shining moon. In the distance, I can see the headlights of a car coming down the mountainside into this valley where I feel like I have been left as a prisoner. Stuck in the middle of----!” “AHHHHHHHHHHH!” Juliet’s scream pierced the night’s stillness.

“Huh? What is this?” Exclaimed Jacob as he looked over and saw a diary lying under a bridge. His wonders grew in fright as the night became darker.

He picked the diary up and wondered what to do with it, and why was it here. Jacob brought the diary back to Lake Whiteheart and flipped to the last entry. Jacob was astounded by what he saw. There was a picture of a girl yelling out of a deserted mansion window. Jacob realized he has seen this mansion. It is near the campsite! A cool chill went through his body as he walked to the ramshackle decrepit mansion. Juliet was peering through window screaming “RUN!” Jacob could not make out what she was saying. He approached the mansion with the diary in his hand. All of the sudden his jaw dropped and the diary fell to the ground. ***Amanda was walking through the Lake Whiteheart campsite when she found a diary. She opened it to the last entry and she saw a picture of a girl and boy screaming out of a mansion window.

Amanda recognized the frightened girl in the picture. It was her bunkmate Juliet! "How did she get in the picture?" she wondered. Amanda quickly rips the picture from the mysterious diary and drops the book on the muddy ground. The ground acts like quicksand and slowly swallows the diary into a dark portal. Amanda frantically claws at the dirt trying to rescue the suspicious diary without success. All she has now to help her friend is this peculiar photo.

Amanda looks closely at the picture. “I know Juliet, but who is this boy? And where are they? I’ve never seen this mansion anywhere at camp. “ Amanda runs through the camp looking everywhere for the mansion. As she leaves the camp she looks up and sees the building in the picture. In the yard, she notices the dark portal. As she gets closer she sees the diary swirling in the middle. The diary falls to the ground. Then she looks up and sees Juliet and Jacob in the window. Jacob has broken the glass and he shouts, “Take the diary page and draw a picture of the campsite so that we can be free.”

Amanda darts to the twisting diary, but pauses just before she tries to grab it from the vortex. She looked at her trembling hands as her mind flashed with one piercing thought, “Quick, get the diary and draw a picture!” but she couldn’t make herself reach into that dark portal. Amanda was frozen in her tracks with fear. Juliet and Jacob were stunned into silence as they watched their friend slowly turn and walk away. …

…Tyrell was sent to Lake Whiteheart by his mom. He wanted to be at home playing football with his best friend over the Spring break. As he walked by the mysterious mansion he thought he saw some movement in the upstairs window…
