Your class will be writing ONE group paragraph(s) for the story (not each student). The first class will write the intro paragraph(s). Then the next class will read the paragraph(s) and decide how they want to continue the story. This will continue until the last class on the list writes the ending and gives the story a title. Your paragraph(s) will be typed onto this Wiki page. You will also need to send (email as .jpg) the 3 pictures to your Teacher Leader. The pictures should illustrate events in the section that your class wrote.

Please visit the Instructions Page for more information.

Please add your information to the chart. This way your classes can "see" where the story is traveling and have a chance to actually "meet" some of the students who collaborate on their story.

Title (Given by the last class):

Start your story here:

Thump, thump, thump! The tire on the Perez family’s black truck was flat. Mr. Perez pulled the truck over to the side of the road. Freddy, his 14 year old son, hopped out of the truck at the same time he did. The snow fell from the sky as they looked at the flat tire. “Looks like you hit a nail,” Freddy told his dad, “too bad we left the spare tire at home to make room for our suitcases.”

Vanessa, Freddy’s 10 year old sister, climbed out of the truck. “Hey look! There’s a castle over there,” she exclaimed pointing at the top of the hill.

Mrs. Perez joined her family in the snow. “I guess we should walk to the castle and try to find some help. We don’t want to stay out here and freeze to death.”

The snow came down harder as they walked towards castle making it difficult to see. As they got closer, they noticed the castle was rather large. It had huge towers with gargoyles around the top. The windows were caked with dust and several looked broken. Dead vines grew up the sides of the castle. As they climbed the steps to the front door, Vanessa saw a large, creepy spider and screamed. Freddy laughed, “Don’t be such a scaredy-cat.”

“That’s not funny, Freddy.” Vanessa cried. Mr. Perez approached the rounded door and knocked. They waited a few seconds, but nothing happened.

“I guess nobody’s home,” Mrs. Perez said. Suddenly the door swung open.

“Babe Ruth!” Vanessa yelled. Vanessa didn’t have her glasses on and didn’t realize it was a creepy old man. His face was pale, and he had on a ripped shirt, black robe, bloody pants, and a headband from the 70’s. He also had a black cat sitting on his shoulder. “What do you want?” he questioned in a deep voice. Mrs. Perez said, “Do you have any spare tires? We have a nail in our tire.” The creepy old man noticed that the family was freezing and invited them in.

Even though they were afraid, the family reluctantly entered the creepy castle. Inside the castle they noticed that the wallpaper is peeling from the wall, bats hanging from the ceiling, and spiderwebs are in every corner of the room. Mrs. Perez inquires about using a phone to call for help. The creepy old man shows her to the kitchen where she finds a phone to call AAA. She sits at the kitchen table and calls AAA. After her call, she returns to rest of her family. "Oh no! Mom, what happened to you? Did that creepy old man hurt you?" shouts Vanessa. Startled, she glances down and sees a dark red substance dripping from her arm. "What was it?" she wondered. She inspects her arm, but there are no injuries. She looks closer. The creepy old man walked over to Mrs. Perez. "That's only paint. I've been painting the kitchen. I just moved in last week and I've been trying to repair this old place. You must have gotten into my paint for the kitchen. 'Blood red', I think that's what they called it at the store," explained the old man. The Perez family just laughed.

Hours passed, AAA never came. The old man offered the Perez family rooms for the night. Vanessa awoke to the sound of the window rattling. Vanessa went to the window and opened it. She did not see anything and went back to the bed and fell asleep. She awakened again and was surprised to see a big owl with very large eyes sitting on the ledge. “Whoooo, whoooo” said the owl. “Watch out whooooo,” said the owl. Vanessa screeched, “Ahhhhhhhhh!”
The old man entered the room. He asked, “What happened? Why did you scream?” Vanessa said, “I saw a big owl and he said to watch out.” The old man said, “Oh, you're just imagining things. Why don’t you go back to sleep, you don’t have anything to worry about”. He left the room and Vanessa lay back down to sleep.

That night Vanessa was awakened by the noise of pecking. She was frightened so she woke up the whole family. The family and the old man went downstairs to investigate and they saw the owl pecking at the floor. Freddy examined the place where the owl was pecking and found a trap door. Under the trap door the family and the old man climbed into a secret chamber with the owl flying behind. The secret chamber let out a heat wave. It was covered in dust, spider webs were in every corner, and it was very humid. They saw a carriage in the middle of the chamber and they thought that the carriage wheel might be able to replace their flat tire. Mr. Perez and Mrs. Perez took one of the carriage wheels to try to replace their broken tire with the carriage’s wheel. As they walked down the main hall to the door carrying the wheel, they crept past gargoyles and statues of monsters wondering if they should watch out for them. The clock struck midnight. Statues of knights came to life and swung their weapons. Vanessa said, “Oh!! That’s what the owl warned me to watch out for!” The family ran until they found a passageway to the van. They locked the passageway behind them so the knights wouldn’t catch them. As they were switching the wheels, the knights busted down the passageway. The owl and the old man fought off the knights until the Perez family was ready to go. “It’s ready. Jump into the van!” As they drove away toward the airport, Freddy stuck his head out the window and the old man faintly heard “Thank you!”
