Mystery of the Killer Carrots

It was a normal day in Kansas City Missouri. A girl named Sasha, her brother Steve, their dog and cat, Joe and Fluffy, (who somehow could talk), were pushing their baby brother Billy’s stroller. They all were very bored. As they were walking past the carrot patch next to the nuclear plant, Fluffy said to Sasha, ”Don’t you think this is a weird place for a nuclear plant?” Sasha responded, “Yeah you’re riiii…… whoa”As the earth trembled, Steve said, “Do you see that leak in the nuclear plant?” Then as green fluid leaked onto the carrot patch, BANG, they all fell as the earth trembled so much they thought it would crack. When the trembling stopped, ten living baby carrots crawled out of the patch. It was only seconds before Joe, who hadn’t eaten in awhile, grabbed a carrot and stuffed it in his mouth. Suddenly the carrot began growing to an immense size. Joe, who was afraid of what he had hoped to make his dinner, ran up to a porch on a nearby house. Then the giant carrots crushed the house. Everyone yelled, “JOE!” while Billy started crying.
As Joe chewed the carrot, he grew to an enormous size. He must have been at least 8 feet tall. To his surprise, Joe suggested they feed the carrots to the children at the local elementary school. They never knew Joe could speak before this.
Without thinking, Steve handed the crying Billy a carrot to soothe him. Sasha screamed, “No, don’t!” It was too late. Billy did not react to the nuclear powered carrot like the dog had. He began to shrink, as Sasha and Steve watched in horror. Finally, he stopped shrinking. He was twelve inches tall. Joe, who was still hungry bent his slobbering head into the stroller and picked up Billy by the hood on his jacket.
Thinking quickly, Steve threw Billy’s squeak toy. Joe dropped Billy as he ran after the toy. Sasha and Steve watched in amazement as Billy began to grow back to normal. “It must have been the dog’s slobber,” they said together.
The three children watched as Joe began to shrink. “What? Why is Joe shrinking?” Sasha said, “It must be all the old Joe slobber on the toy. That must be the cure!”
Sasha and Steve started thinking. They liked the idea Joe had about feeding the carrots to the children at school. They could shrink down and really have some fun at school. “Who should we try first?” they wondered. “I know, red-headed Austin loves carrots,” remembered Sasha, “but, he won’t eat them if we don’t!” They realized they may have to try them, too. Or, they could just have a bunch of organic carrots for themselves. They decided they better gather a jarful of Joe’s slobber just in case. They headed off to school to put their plan into action.


When the kids got to school, red-headed Austin was standing by his locker. Slowly, they walked towards him, trying not to give away the trick. When they finally got to him, they started chit-chatting about the day. "Uhhhhhh I forgot to eat breakfast I'm soooooo hungry, but all I have is bread and water though," moaned Sasha. So Steve suggested, "hey I have carrots, you can eat those. Austin, do you want some too?" So the three kids went into the cafeteria to eat the carrots. Steve began passing out the carrots-- the organic ones to Sasha and himself, and the nuclear ones to red-headed Austin.
Suddenly, something happened to Austin. He began to shrink like a slug when you put salt on it. Not surprisingly, Sasha and Steve were fine. Austin was shaking nervously crying, "I want to be a real boy!" Then Sasha and Steve revealed to him that they have a cure, and that this was just a prank. So as Steve reached into his pocket, he realized that the jar miraculously disappeared. "Sorry Au-Au-Austin....the cure is gone from my pocket," Steve mumbled. Tiny Red-Headed Austin squeaked around furiously, fell over, and then got swept away into the drain by the janitor. And that was the end of the mystery of the killer carrots.
