Your class will be writing ONE group paragraph(s) for the story (not each student). The first class will write the intro paragraph(s). Then the next class will read the paragraph(s) and decide how they want to continue the story. This will continue until the last class on the list writes the ending and gives the story a title. Your paragraph(s) will be typed onto this Wiki page. You will also need to send (email as .jpg) the 3 pictures to your Teacher Leader. The pictures should illustrate events in the section that your class wrote.

Please visit the Instructions Page for more information.

If you would like to share any contact information please feel free to add it to the chart. This way your classes have a chance to actually "meet" some of the students that collaborate on their story.

Please feel free to make corrections to your name/school/location or add the names of teachers if you are working with someone on this project.

Title (Given by the last class):

Start your story here:
Today at school, I found a baby squirrel on the playground. He was a scared, furry, brown, baby ball of fur. The squirrel was taking a nap on one of the slides. He woke up from his nap and saw our class. He screamed, "YIKES, GIANTS!"

We asked our teacher if we could keep him as a class pet. Who wouldn't want a talking squirrel? She said we could keep him for a week for observation. We all put our heads together to decide what was the best way to catch him. One child shouted, "NUTS!" We decided to make a trail of nuts beginning at the playground and ending in our classroom.

The squirrel followed the trail of nuts into the classroom and right into the guinea pigs' cage. The class checked him over to make sure he was okay and warmed him up with a blanket. They fed the squirrel cheeseburgers and popsicles. He liked them! The squirrel seemed happy to be staying with the guinea pigs.

By the way, "What kind of animals are you?" said the squirrel. "We're guinea pigs," they chuckled. The little squirrel began looking around his new home and asked, "What is that big wheel for?" "Oh, that's our exercise wheel. We run on it. " Can I try it? Can I try it?" he said excitedly. "Sure," they all answered. Just as he was about to get on the wheel, the bell rang, and all of the children went home. The teacher turned out the light and closed the door. The guineas pigs said, "Now that the kids are gone, let's have a party!"

The guinea pigs and the squirrel invited all the other school pets to the party in room 509. They had more cheeseburgers and popsicles, and pizza, cake, and lollipops, too. There were party hats and a piñata that the squirrel broke open. Each party animal received a Lego toy as a present and the squirrel got a spaceman toy to take home to the other squirrels. The animals all jumped and danced on the exercise wheel. Everyone cheered, “this is the best time ever!” The squirrel had some great memories to share with his friends when he returned to the wild.
