Progressive Story 34
Your class will be writing ONE group paragraph(s) for the story (not each student). The first class will write the intro paragraph(s). Then the next class will read the paragraph(s) and decide how they want to continue the story. This will continue until the last class on the list writes the ending and gives the story a title. Your paragraph(s) will be typed onto this Wiki page. You will also need to send (email as .jpg) the 3 pictures to me. The pictures should illustrate events in the section that your class wrote.

Please visit the Instructions Page for more information.

If you would like to share any contact information please feel free to add it to the chart. This way your classes have a chance to actually "meet" some of the students that collaborate on their story.

Please feel free to make corrections to your name/school/location or add the names of teachers if you are working with someone on this project.

Title (given by the last class to write): The Abandoned School

Type your story here:
Once there were three friends Madison, Max and Jacob. Max lives next to an old scary school. At night he hears bats flying, glass breaking and things moving. Max asks his teacher Mr. Rose about the creepy noises. Mr. Rose tells him that there was a fire at the school a very long time ago. No one was hurt. Now animals live in the old school. At the end of the day Max's mom picks him up from school. Max calls Madison and Jacob when he gets home. Max tells them to come over. The friends take flashlights and jackets and walk to the school. At the school they find broken windows, chairs and doors. Madison sees a bunny and shouts, "Come here! Come here!" to Jacob and Max. The bunny runs away and they chase it. They run through the abandoned school and find a beautiful garden.

As they slowly entered the garden, they fell through a hole in the ground. As their feet touched the ground, the top of the hole closed over with a spider web. Max goes on top of Jacob’s shoulders and Jacob goes on top of Madison’s shoulders. Max reaches up and gets stuck in the spider web. Madison and Jacob pull hard to get Max loose. All three tumble to the ground. It wound up being an unexpected trap! They see a dim blue light and follow it. It leads them to an elderly man. The man does not look surprised to see them. He introduces himself as the old janitor of the abandoned school, Mr. George. The kids ask Mr. George how to escape. Mr. George seems to ignore the question and proceeds to babble on about his pet bunny. Once again they ask him, “How can we get out of here?” Mr. George seems to be delirious and continues to babble like a riddle. Max, Madison and Jacob look at each other in disbelief.

Suddenly, Mr. George stops babbling and looks right at the kids. He whispers, "You'll never get out of here unless..." and with that he disappears. The kids are now scared half to death. They wonder how they will ever find their way out! Jacob remembers Mr. George going on and on about his pet bunny. He suggests that maybe the bunny holds the key to getting them out of the underground trap. With that, they decide to use their flashlights to do a little bunny finding. When they shine their lights on the ground, they notice tiny bunny footprints in the rocky dirt. The three friends follow the prints until it leads them to a humongous, metal door with that same dim blue light that they'd seen before, shining out from the cracks in the doorway. Since no one wants to open the door, the three friends decide to do "rock, paper, scissors" to see who would get the unlucky job. Madison lost so she was the one to have to jiggle the door knob. She jiggled the knob and the door swung open. None of the kids could believe what they saw next.

The room was filled with glowing blue bunnies! The three friends cautiously tip toed through the doorway to examine the bunnies more closely. Two steps in the children found themselves falling once again. “Aaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!” Boing! They bounced onto a huge spider web. They looked around and saw other children wrapped up like bugs trapped in a web. The friends began to panic, but before they could ponder an escape, they saw a colossal spider guarding a map.

Madison said, “We have to make a plan to acquire that map!”

“I know, let’s free the other kids and attack together.” Whispered Max. The children walked like tight rope walkers on the strands of the web and began releasing the other children. They decided to distract the spider and tie it up with the spider’s own web, while Jacob collected the map. The plan was successful! Jacob had the map in his hand and the spider was helpless. Jacob, Max, and Madison looked at the map with the other children.

Madison pointed to the picture of the door to freedom and said, “Now, how do we get there?”

Cautiously, the children begin to venture around the perimeter of what was left of the spider web. All of a sudden, the spider web drops from beneath their feet, and they find themselves in a culinary nightmare: They were all sitting in the middle of a gigantic plate of spaghetti!!! Brainstorming ways to get out of this mess, Jacob suggests that since they are all hungry, anyways, they should try to eat their way out. The children ate and ate and ate until they could eat no more, and finally, they finished. Just as the last noodle was slurped up, a 1-centimeter tall sparkling blue bunny appeared before their eyes. With a ferocious jump, the slick bunny started to drag them to the particular secret passageway that would lead them to freedom. He immediately revealed to them that he was a legendary human...Barry Sanders, a famous Detroit Lions football player.

Barry Sanders, looking very fierce, points to a tall, magestic door. All of a sudden, the door magically opens, and a giant paper airplane flies into the room. Hovering slightly above their heads, the paper airplane waits for the children to hop aboard. Once on, the paper airplane flies the children to a zero-gravity room, where the children are magically lifted up to the beautiful garden inside the school.

Once upon solid ground, the children looked at one another in amazement, and dashed off to their homes.
