Your class will be writing ONE group paragraph(s) for the story (not each student). The first class will write the intro paragraph(s). Then the next class will read the paragraph(s) and decide how they want to continue the story. This will continue until the last class on the list writes the ending and gives the story a title. Your paragraph(s) will be typed onto this Wiki page. You will also need to send (email as .jpg) the 3 pictures to me. The pictures should illustrate events in the section that your class wrote.

Please visit the Instructions Page for more information.

If you would like to share any contact information please feel free to add it to the chart. This way your classes have a chance to actually "meet" some of the students that collaborate on their story.

A Fight for the Throne:

Type your story here:

Deep in the dark, swampy forest of the Florida Everglades lived a wise, old turtle named Earle. He had made a home for himself from a fallen tree and spent his days sunning himself where the sun seeped through the thick tree limbs. On the other side of the swampy forest lived a young, ferocious alligator named Stanley. His goal in life was to become the king of the swamp like his great uncle Arthur.

Stanley, the ferocious alligator is mean to Earle the sweet old turtle. Angry Stanley is a mean old tyrant who tries to take over the peaceful swampy forest by destroying Earle's home with his spiky, lashing tail. Stanley, commands Earle to bring him a swamp smoothie to drink. Earle rejects his command and immediately goes into his shell.

He was in his shell all night long. In the morning, Earle realizes that feeling sorry for yourself isn’t going to get you anywhere. Instantly, the wise old turtle pops out of his shell and swims to the other side of the swamp to see Marley, his longtime friend. Earle spots Marley swimming his way. “Marley!” exclaimed Earle, “have you heard the news?” “Heard what news?” asked Marley. “Stanley wants to become the king of the swamp, but he will destroy it, instead of making it better.” Earle said sadly. All of the sudden, Marley proposed “I know, somehow, you should be king of the swamp!” While the two turtles swim to get breakfast, Earle ponders the idea.

As they reach Dunkin Swamp for their breakfast, Earle and Marley share their thoughts about Earle becoming king of the swamp. Earle and Marley decide to hold an evening swamp meeting at the mushroom clearing. So, the two decided to post flyers throughout the swamp as well as having bird friends carrying flyers above the swamp. At the evening meeting, Earle was surprised at the overwhelming support that the other animals were providing. It was evident that all of the inhabitants of the swamp wanted to preserve their home. After reflecting on all the support his friends gave him, Earle decided to run for king of the swamp against the terrifying Stanley. As they were leaving the meeting, an eerie silence came over the swamp as two yellow eyes peered out of the murky swamp water.

Stanley instantly jumped out of the water with his mouth open wide, ready to attack! The sight startled the animals so much that one fell in the water with a sharp, "plop!". Stanley growled, "I heard you were having a little meeting, Earle." Earle speaks up and says, "Why yes we are, we are voting on who should be the king of the swamp." Stanley was startled by Earle's response. They each wrote their votes on stones using a chalk rock. Marley collected all of the votes from the animals in the swamp. Marley announced with pride, "Earle ended up with 25 votes and Stanley ended up with 2 votes." Stanley began to stand up on his hind legs with his fists clenched. All of a sudden he charges at Earle and Marley. Earle did not even flinched and blew his whistle. Coming out of the grass came 20 feisty cats. Stanley immediately stops in his tracks. "No, no, no, please don't send those cats after me!!", screamed Stanley. "Well if you follow the rules and are okay with me being king, then we will not send the cats after you!". Stanley agrees and they all live happily ever after.....
