Your class will be writing ONE group paragraph(s) for the story (not each student). The first class will write the intro paragraph(s). Then the next class will read the paragraph(s) and decide how they want to continue the story. This will continue until the last class on the list writes the ending and gives the story a title. Your paragraph(s) will be typed onto this Wiki page. You will also need to send (email as .jpg) the 3 pictures to your Teacher Leader. The pictures should illustrate events in the section that your class wrote.

The Shadow of the Night
Start your story here:
It was a normal Friday night while Michael played FIFA 10 with his friends online. Michael loved to play video games but would still manage to get straight A’s. As he was playing, he heard a loud crash downstairs, but he decided to ignore it and keep playing. Then he heard somebody walking inside and he thought that it was his parents coming home from their date. “Mom, Dad, are you back?” There was no answer so he thought about going downstairs to check what the noise was, but he decided to finish his game first. For some reason he felt a great fear grow inside of him, he wasn’t sure what it was that had made the noise. “There is nothing unusual downstairs, it’s just your imagination,” Michael told himself to try and calm down. As he walked down he called for his parents once more, but again there was no answer. He felt an odd courage so he went downstairs running without a kind of protection. As he searched the quiet house there was nothing but stillness in the house.
Suddenly Michael sees a bright light shining through the living room window. He walks toward the light and sees that it is coming from his parents’ car. “Whew, Mom and Dad must be home,” he says with a sigh of relief. So Michael stares at the car waiting for his parents to get out when the lights abruptly go off, but there is no one in the car. Michael is fearful once again. He hears the front door slam and spots a dark, mysterious shadow slowly gliding across the floor. He runs to the bathroom and locks himself in.
In the bathroom, he sees his dad’s newspaper lying on the counter by the sink. He picks up the newspaper. On the newspaper, he reads the headline, “CRIMINAL ESCAPES FROM JAIL.” The article says that the criminal could turn himself into a shadow without a body. While he reads the newspaper, he feels something on his shoe. He looks down and sees shadow all around him. The shadow grabs onto his shoe. Anxiously, he reads more of the newspaper to get more information. The newspaper says that the villain is a master of disguise. He can turn himself into anything that he wants to. Suddenly, he realizes: if the lights are off, there can’t be any shadow. He turns off the lights. Five seconds later, he turns the lights back on, and the shadow is gone. Then, he hears a slam in the kitchen.
Michael decides to wait a couple of minutes before he goes to the kitchen. He was getting very scared. Michael carefully unlocked the bathroom door and crept into the kitchen. He looked at the kitchen door. The door was swinging open. The moonlight shone through the door. Michael is terrified. “Is anyone there?” No answer. As he is walking to the kitchen he sees something flying across into the living room. Entering the kitchen, he looks about. There were pots and pans lying on the floor and cabinets were wide open. The silver wear was mysteriously floating in mid air. Michael gets hungry so he opened the refrigerator and finds the shadow there. Michael can easily see the shadow, suddenly he sees it zip out the window! Then he hears a breath taking crash in the living room. Following the sound, Michael realized it was a voice coming from the closet! Still holding the rolled up newspaper, he read it again. This time, very carefully. Almost abruptly as he finished the article, panting, he saw a hand, not solid, but almost like a gas reach out from the closet. Astonished, Michael yelled “Who are you, and what do you want?” There was a long silence. It was very eerie. Michael thought he heard footsteps. He slowly walked out into the hall and saw
…his father in a dark cloak. Michael runs up and throws his arms around him, but they go right through him. He realizes that this is not his father, but the villain. Michael recalls from the article that the villain is a master of disguise, so he rushed to call the police. He is not able to make the call because the shadow blocks him. Michael then has a flashback of when he used to make shadow puppets at night with a flashlight when he was little. Michael suddenly remembers that there is a flashlight in the desk drawer down the hall. So he sprints to the desk, rips open the drawer and grabs the flashlight. He quickly turns it on and shines the light toward the villain. While pointing it at the villain, he remembered making a wolf shadow and tried it against the villain. The villain immediately started screeching when Michael’s wolf puppet began to bite and eat him, fading away until there was nothing left.
Michael hears the rumbling of cars. “Vroom, Vroom! Whirrr” He races to the living room window and notices that his parents’ car pull into the driveway followed by a police car, destroying the villain’s shadow car.
A few seconds later, his parents dash through the door with the police by their side. First, his parents run to him to check if he is unharmed. Next, the police ask Michael to describe his experience with the shadow. Michael explains every detail beginning with him playing his FIFA 10 game and ending with him defeating the shadow with a wolf shadow puppet.
The next morning, Michael looks out his window to see hordes of reporters on his lawn waiting for him to retell his heroic story.
