Your class will be writing ONE group paragraph(s) for the story (not each student). The first class will write the intro paragraph(s). Then the next class will read the paragraph(s) and decide how they want to continue the story. This will continue until the last class on the list writes the ending and gives the story a title. Your paragraph(s) will be typed onto this Wiki page. You will also need to send (email as .jpg) the 3 pictures to your Teacher Leader. The pictures should illustrate events in the section that your class wrote.

Title (Given by the last class):
Start your story here:
On a stormy night in an old dark classroom the sound of metal bars sliding together could be heard . Nudge the classes new budgie poked his out to see if the coast was clear. He was just getting used to his wings when he opened the cage door and flew out .He knew it was risky but he had to try. He couldn't stay cooped up in a cage eating seed for the rest of his life. He had to find...
…an escape. Nudge explores the classroom in his search for an escape route. First, he remembers the students talking about escaping in the reading loft. He flies over to look for a way out but realizes they escape into their imagination not to outside. There’s no way out here! All of a sudden a stack of books almost falls on him. He narrowly escapes the books but flies into the moss in the Louisiana area. He frantically flaps his wings struggling to get free. After a few seconds of fighting with the moss, he is released from its’ grasp. Next he spies the door, but it is locked. No escape for Nudge. Getting discouraged, he notices the window by the teacher’s desk. This must be the way out! He sets off toward the window, but only sees his reflection in the glass. Still no way out! Then Nudge recalls the class’s pet mouse, Despereaux, and is unsure if he should ask for him for help. But Despereaux is sleeping and Nudge is afraid he may tell the class of his escape. So he chooses not to wake him. Finally, he discovers an air vent. He wonders if it may lead to outside. He cautiously flies to the vent, sits on the edge, and pecks it with his beak. Nudge peeks in and sees a bright light. Could this be his pathway to freedom? He…
a loud squeak from behind him! " Take me with you," demanded Despereaux. Nudge turned around to see the mouse standing on his hind legs. "I'm tired of being confined in this cage. I'm starving for adventure! I want to see the WORLD!!!" exclaimed Despereaux. Nudge took a moment to ponder this twist of events. "Whatever! I planned on this being a solo trip, but you seem motivated and could be useful. However, remember, I'm in charge," responded Nudge. Then out of the corner of Nudge's eye, something glistened. It was a Ring Pop wrapper from a student's lunch. Nudge ran over to the wrapper. Despereaux asked, "What do we need with a Ring Pop wrapper?" Nudge informed Despereaux of his idea, "Let's use this wrapper as a satchel for useful items we find along the way to help us get to freedom." "Great idea! How about using some Louisiana moss for the strap and take some extra, just in case. TO THE VENT!," added Despereaux. The 2 class pets head to the vent. Thumbtacks were all over the vent. "These thumbtacks must have fallen from the bulletin board. Let's put some in our satchel. They may come in handy!" stated Despereaux. "Good idea!" complimented Nudge. A bright yellow light is shining ahead . The daring duo scurry to the light, which they thought was outside, but it was the principal's office. The principal was on the phone with his wife. They were talking about stealing all the class pets to feed their pet caiman. They were planning to steal the 10 pets that were in the 5 classrooms: Frog/Turtle, Salamander/Snake, Chick/Rat, Bunny/Snail, and of course Despereaux/Nudge. Despereaux and Nudge looked at each other in fear and...
Nudge went where the snake was and warned him about the caiman but, the snake didn’t believe him so the snake said “Are you joking?” Nudge said “It is not a joke.” Then Nudge opened the cage for the snake to get out and then they went where the turtle, frog, salamander, chick, rat, bunny, and snail were at. When Nudge went to free the animals they saw the principal so they all gathered up in a small place. Then when the principal went to get the animals they were all gone and the principal screamed “WHERE ARE ALL THE ANIMALS?!!!” Then the principal went to his office to call his wife and said “All the animals are gone!!!” His wife was mad because the principal let the animals get away. The principal didn’t know that all the animals were scrunched up in a small hole in the wall in the main hall behind the school’s huge trophy case. Frog said “Why can’t we get a bigger hole? There isn’t enough space here!” They didn’t know it but there was a disaster waiting to happen because Nudge, who was a very strong animal, suddenly felt he couldn’t breathe because they were all squashed into the little hole so he started pushing the others and everyone started arguing really loudly. While all the animals were arguing the principal’s wife called. She was saying “The caiman is very mad because he does not have anything to eat. If we can’t feed him the class pets we will have to feed him …….” Suddenly the principal interrupted saying “Hold on! I hear something outside let me go investigate.” He ran from his office into the main hall and was right in front of the huge trophy case when ……
