Your class will be writing ONE group paragraph(s) for the story (not each student). The first class will write the intro paragraph(s). Then the next class will read the paragraph(s) and decide how they want to continue the story. This will continue until the last class on the list writes the ending and gives the story a title. Your paragraph(s) will be typed onto this Wiki page. You will also need to send (email as .jpg) the 3 pictures to your Teacher Leader. The pictures should illustrate events in the section that your class wrote.
Please visit the Instructions Page for more information.
If you would like to share any contact information please feel free to add it to the chart. This way your classes have a chance to actually "meet" some of the students that collaborate on their story.
Please feel free to make corrections to your name/school/location or add the names of teachers if you are working with someone on this project.

Title (Given by the last class): The Golden Bone

Start your story here:

I was born lucky so that is what my master named me. When I was first born I found a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow that was guarded by a leprechaun. I took a gold bone and the leprechaun disappeared. As I dragged the gold bone home it hurt my baby teeth and my puppy paws began to hurt from the walk. I was trying to walk quickly through the busy streets of New York City at night with people pushing past my small body. There were newspaper stands everywhere and I finally bothered to look up at them. The headline said “Female Brown Bear And Her Mariachi Band Macaws On The Loose From Central Park Zoo.” It was that bear and her macaws that had nearly killed me earlier today. I was glad all those reading lessons with mother had paid off. I was bruised and battered as I tried to find my way home after being attacked.
Just then the three macaws came flying over my head singing in their mariachi voices “how did you survive? how did you survive?”

I ignored the birds, and kept running. I was being chased by those singing macaws and felt trapped by people’s feet on a busy street. Then a very kind, sweet, gentle voice came from behind me. She said, “Hello little puppy!” The little girl scooped me up and took me down the closest alley to her Uncle Bobby. Bobby was a man with a long dark beard and an old hat. He had been working at an Italian bistro and had come out of the side door for his break. As I greeted him with my usual shake of my paw, I introduced myself as Lucky. He gave me a slice of bread and a bottle of Coke. I thanked him, and he invited me to come to their apartment to spend the night. When we got there, Bobby and Lucy asked me about the macaws and why I was being chased by them. I told them that I was at the zoo with my master having a picnic, and all of the sudden – BOOM! The cage containing “Mariachi Mama Bear and the Masked Macaws”, a famous pop animal group, busted wide open! The macaws and the bear had worked together using their beaks and claws to pick the lock on the cage! When they escaped from the cage, everyone screamed and ran. During the stampede of people, my master and I were separated. I explained that that was how I was almost killed. After I told Bobby and Lucy about my crazy day, Lucy brought in some pillows and blankets (and a newspaper) for me. I was glad tomorrow would be a new day.
I woke up to Lucy telling me to get up for Cultural Day as school. She was holding a sombrero and wearing a beautiful silk sari. She was planning to put the sombrero on me. I didn’t like that idea, but I didn’t want to hurt her feelings. So we went outside and started walking. Suddenly, I heard “La cucaracha, la cucaracha, ya no puede caminar…”. And then the macaws swooped down and grabbed me by the sombrero. I didn’t fall because the strap was still fastened around my neck. We flew over buildings and streets. I barked and barked non stop. Finally, we reached a big maze and the macaws dropped me and flew away. It was sunny and I walked for around one hour. Then, suddenly I heard a rustling noise around the corner and slowly I made my way other there. All of a sudden a black lab jumped out at me. After I got over my shock, she introduced herself as Natasha Black. She said she had been dropped by the macaw just tow hours ago. She said she found a little supply of food and she gave me some. Then, we started running around trying to find the exit. Finally, we saw it and started to sprint toward it. But something jumped in front of us and blocked the exit. It was a grizzly bear licking its lips getting ready for dinner…
Suddenly, Natasha unzipped her skin. She was wearing a costume! Natasha pulled out a boomerang and threw it at the grizzly bear. The bear was knocked unconscious. Just then a helicopter hovered above them. A ladder dropped down, and Natasha and Lucky climbed up. In the helicopter Natasha said, in a Russian accent, “I’m actually an international spy, I work for the KGB. Your owner, Vladimir Petrowski, works with us. The Mariachi Mama Bear and the masked macaws were originally caged in Russia. They made it their mission to destroy Russia forever. That is why they kidnapped your owner to find out our secrets.” “We have to save my owner Vladimir!” I said. “We must go back to the zoo and look for clues.” said Natasha. When we got to the zoo, we only found a card with the name of a real-estate agent… Julia Zancroft. We found Zancroft in her office at the top of the Empire State Building. We barged in and asked her if a bear and macaws had purchased a house. “Indeed they have.” Said Zancroft. They bought one in Cornwall England; we must go there for the final battle! Miraculously the helicopter is waiting for us outside.
“Zoom, Zoom, Pow” the helicopter’s ladder clattered down to the ground. Natasha and I rushed into the helicopter but I stopped when I spotted a Soviet Union sign. I motioned to Natasha and said “I don’t know if we should trust this.” “Don’t worry;” said Natasha, “You’re master’s on our side.” So, we got on the helicopter and started storming to England, full speed ahead. The helicopter ride was a little bumpy, but it worked. And, soon the house was in view. When I was finally feeling my wave of nausea pass, we felt a large BOOM and were suddenly thrown from the helicopter. We were both able to grab a parachute and started plummeting towards the ground amid a rain of open fire. Natasha unfortunately, was not as lucky as I, and did not make it through the cluster of bullets in one piece. Mama Bear and I were now face to face, when all of a sudden the British guard marched up to the house. The British guard was able to trap the unsuspecting Mariachi Mama Bear and the masked macaws by luring them into a Russian Zoo animal transporter with mariachi music playing inside. Mama Bear uttered, “I just wanted to destroy Russia, is that too much to ask?” I replied with a definite, “Yes!” Just then, Vladimir walked out of the house with my golden bone and told me it was finally time to go home.
And that is how I spent my Summer Vacation.
