Progressive Story 23
Your class will be writing ONE group paragraph(s) for the story (not each student). The first class will write the intro paragraph(s). Then the next class will read the paragraph(s) and decide how they want to continue the story. This will continue until the last class on the list writes the ending and gives the story a title. Your paragraph(s) will be typed onto this Wiki page. You will also need to send (email as .jpg) the 3 pictures to me. The pictures should illustrate events in the section that your class wrote.

Once upon a time, there were six good friends. There names were, Mario and Luigi, Lord Voldemort, Hermoine, Slugger, and Ripper. They challenged each other to a baseball game. Mario and Luigi were the captains. Mario chose Lord Voldemort and Hermoine. Luigi chose Ripper and Slugger to be on his team. Both teams decided on their team names. Mario's team was called the Phillies and Luigi's team was called the Slugger's. They had to travel through the jungle to find a baseball stadium that suited them. They came upon DK Stadium. Luigi's team was up to bat first.
The jungle was dark. It was freezing, wet, gloomy, cloudy, foggy, and rainy. As Luigi gazed around, he spotted monkeys sitting in the stands. Then he scanned again: an alligator was the umpire! It was so pitch black they had to put a glow-in-the-dark stick on the baseball so they could see it. Luigi’s heart pounded as Mario pitched the ball. It was hailing. Luigi got pounded on the head by the hail. Since it was extremely muddy, Luigi slipped while he swung the bat. “Strike One!” screamed the alligator umpire. Catcher Voldermort caught the change-up. He tossed the ball back to Mario. Luigi got the second strike. “Last chance” thought Luigi. He had butterflies in his stomach. On the third pitch, Mario fired the ball fierce and strong. Just when hope was lost, CRACK! Luigi smacked the ball so hard it blasted out of the park. It was a homerun! Now the score was one to zero, the Sluggers were winning. The next outs came along quickly. The Sluggers crowded the field. As Luigi strolled onto the pitcher’s mound, Luigi saw something moving. Jungle vines were swaying and flying. What could it be?
Luigi started his wind up for the final out of the game. Out of the corner of Luigi’s eye, the homerun ball came flying out of the jungle back onto the field. Bounce! Bounce! Bounce! The ballplayers on both sides were anxious as to why the ball came back onto the field. The animals all looked to the right where the ball had come from over the stadium’s wall. Suddenly, the stadium lights flickered on, there was the sound of stomping and screaming and the stands were overrun by flying squirrels and fierce monkies. In the tense situation, hail changes to a drizzly rain and continues to fall. The alligator umpires confronts the flying squirrel and monkies’ leader, a squirrel name Dumbledore. Why are you here? He is asked. This is our stadium he responded. If you play here, you must play against us as the home team for the final out.
Catcher, Lord Voldermort steps forward and says, “ I will speak for all. We accept your challenge Dumbledore.”
The fiercest monkey on Dumbledore’s team held the ball in his hand. He was the pitcher. The strongest squirrel, standing behind the pitcher, warmed-up by throwing the ball around the bases. Dumbledore’s uniforms were hypnotic. They had spirals that caused an optical illusion. It was hard to look at them. Hermione then yelled, “Let’s make this a full game!” Everyone agreed and the umpire yelled, “Let the game begin!” Mario was first up. The pitcher hurled the ball towards home plate. Mario hit it. It lodged in a tree. Dumbledore’s teem yelled, “foul!” Mario scoffed at the idea and ran around the bases, 1-0. Mario and Luigi’s team had great stamina and held the lead until the last inning. They new they could be the contender, until Dumbledore’s team tied the game 1-1. It was finally the last out of the game and Hermione walked up to home plate. Hermione craved a homerun. Her tactic was to look straight at the ball and swing hard, but Dumbledore foiled her plan. He threw a curve ball and struck her out. The alligator yelled, “Extra innings!” Dumbledore was up at bat. He hit the ball straight down the third base line. He thought he would be victorious, but Lord Voldemort dove, cradled the ball and threw it to Ripper at first base. It was a dazzling hit, though Voldermort’s catch was just as sensational, but before the play was over the umpire yelled, “Foul ball.” They had to do it over. Now Slugger threw a fastball right down the middle, Dumbledore made contact. The ball began flying up into the wet, rainy night. All of a sudden Cookie Monster came riding out onto the field on his pet hippo. He had a glove in his hand. The ball was flying straight for his glove. SMACK! He jumped off the hippo and caught the ball. “You’re out!” yelled the alligator. The crowd was stupefied. Cookie monster had foiled Dumbledore’s plan. Cookie Monster had waited for a day like today to get back at Dumbledore, because Dumbledore was always excluding Cookie Monster from the jungle. This was an amazing triumph for Cookie Monster. The monkeys and squirrels were fuming. Dumbledore had a huge grimace on his face. All of a sudden there was a sudden rumble. They couldn’t believe their eyes.
It was… Cookie Monster’s army riding in on their cookie mobiles. The Cookie Monster’s army included General Greivies in the front, many Goombas in the middle, and coming up behind DONKEY KONG!
The army and DK stormed in and demanded his stadium back from Dumbledore. DK shouted, “ME WANT STADIUM BACK.” An argument broke out, the Cookie Monster Team started throwing chocolate chips and bananas at the other team. After Mario was hit in the head, he started throwing mushrooms back at them. Finally it was evident that the Cookie Team was victorious.
Suddenly, the Goombas wings appeared, they grabbed the stadium, and they flew off to Rainbow Road. General Greivies called his ship and the rest of Cookie Monster’s army got in and headed to Rainbow Road as well.
Once they arrived at Rainbow Road, DK started playing music to celebrate the victory. Pretty soon all of the characters were dancing to the song, ‘Who let the Dogs Out’ and, of course, eating pickles.
Back in the jungle Dumbledore and others were not happy about losing the stadium. Then out of nowhere Mario yelled out, ‘We should build ourselves our own stadium.’ All of the others agreed that was a good idea. “Now…” Dumbledore thought, “What should we call our new stadium?”
