Progressive Story 9
Your class will be writing ONE group paragraph(s) for the story (not each student). The first class will write the intro paragraph(s). Then the next class will read the paragraph(s) and decide how they want to continue the story. This will continue until the last class on the list writes the ending and gives the story a title. Your paragraph(s) will be typed onto this Wiki page. You will also need to send (email as .jpg) the 3 pictures to me. The pictures should illustrate events in the section that your class wrote.

Your story: The Ancient Mummies

One sunny afternoon, Kyle the camel, Sammy the snake, and Lisa the lizard were playing in the blazing hot sandy desert. School was over and they were playing a game of tag. It was Kyle’s turn to be the tagger and he sprinted as fast as he could to tag Lisa. He tripped over a rock, spun around and landed on his hump. BEEP! “What was that?” Sammy asked. Kyle didn’t notice the shiny red button he had fallen on. The ground started to shake. All of a sudden, a giant, shimmering, golden pyramid came up from the ground. The three friends tiptoed inside the dark, spooky, dusty entrance. When they got inside, they saw an old, green, wooden tomb. “The tomb is empty,” whispered Lisa in a frightened voice. They looked to the left and saw a giant brick staircase. They cautiously climbed the steps and when they got to the top, they couldn’t believe their eyes! Right in front of them, stood an enormous, ghostly, red-eyed MUMMY! “Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!” cried the friends.

The three friends approached the red-eyed mummy. "What is your name?" they asked. "Go away", mumbled the grumpy mummy. Kyle, Sammy and Lisa quickly became scared. They wanted to become friends with the mummy, but he would not talk to them. "I have an idea," said Sammy. "Lets go further up the steps and see what we can find!" So, the three friends headed up the steps again.

They continued up the stairs. The friends were thirsty, hungry, and tired from climbing the stairs. They saw a giant door. They couldn’t open the door because it was so enormous. Suddenly, Sammy had an idea, “Wait a minute! I think I can reach it.” Sammy slithered up to the door knob, but he was so slippery that he could not open the door. Kyle the camel tried to reach the door but he couldn’t reach either. Lisa had an idea. “I have an idea. Let’s climb on each other’s shoulders to open the door.” They finally opened the door and saw a black-eyed mummy. They reached out to touch him and his red eyes turned on. He said, “Go away.” Lisa the Lizard, Sammy the Snake, and Kyle the Camel asked, “Why are all the mummies so grumpy?”

Kyle, Sammy and Lisa clambered up the hard rocky steps that were covered in spider webs. They became frustrated, hot and tired from climbing the dark dusty staircase. As they reached the tippy top of the pyramid they met a jubilant blue eyed female mummy. Surprised to see the smiling mummy the three friends asked "What makes you so friendly?" The mummy responded " You opened the pyramid and now all of us can go free!" "But how?" asked Sammy. The mummy stepped aside to reveal a shiny red button. Sammy, Kyle and Lisa gasped with surprise!

The blue-eyed mummy explained that something dreadful had happened to all the mummies a long time ago. Because of this innocent yet unfortunate mistake they had all been trapped inside the tomb for 1,000 years! She went on to explain their miserable story and why they were all so grumpy.
Long ago they were playing a game of catch with one of the many red jewels they had found in the tomb. All the mummies were giggling and having a great time. They were running up and down the staircase of the pyramid looking through the cracks in the pyramid's stone wall along the way. The mummies tossed the jewel back and forth to each other with huge smiles on their faces never realizing that this was an important jewel. When they reached the tippy top of the pyramid one of the mummies tossed the red jewel to his partner.
“OH NO”, they both screamed together as they watched the jewel fly through the air. The mummy couldn’t catch the jewel and it flew through one of the cracks in the stone wall. It hit the ground below smashing into a million pieces. They saw the red button which had been inside the jewel lying on the ground below. The red button had always been their way in and out of the pyramid. They were now trapped inside the pyramid!
Because the desert has so many sandstorms the red button and eventually the whole pyramid was lost in the sand for 1,000 years. The wind continued to blow until eventually the red button was visible again in the sand. When Kyle fell on the red button the whole pyramid came up through the sand. The mummies were once again free!
