If you would like to share information about you: email address, Skype name, Twitter name, etc., please feel free to add it to the chart. Some teachers mentioned that they would like to actually "meet" some of the students that work on their story.

Your class will be writing ONE group paragraph(s) for the story (not each student). The first class will write the intro paragraph(s). Then the next class will read the paragraph(s) and decide how they want to continue the story. This will continue until the last class on the list writes the ending and gives the story a title. Your paragraph(s) will be typed onto this Wiki page. You will also need to send (email as .jpg) the 3 pictures to me. The pictures should illustrate events in the section that your class wrote. Illustrations can be drawn and photographed or created using a computer program such as Kidpix.

Al's Mysterious Pet Shop and the Three Friends

On a dark, windy night with only a dusty old street lamp providing a faint stream of illumination through Al's Pet Shop's foggy window, three new found friends were chattering quietly about the mysterious sudden glow emanating from their water source. Wise Ferret, sarcastic Monkey, and zealous Frog could not stop pondering about the green substance that is as crystal clear as a diamond by day, but turns as gooey and slimy as a rotted squash by night. " If we have a sample of the slimy substance, we can load it in my ANALYZER, so I can examine its qualities," wise Ferret scientifically announced. "Pick me! Pick me! I can do it! I can get a sample! Pleeeeeeeease!" begged zealous Frog. "Perfect. You're already green and slimy," Monkey added sarcastically. Frog eagerly hopped to the water source, unscrewed the cap, and...

Frog jumped back at the smell of the disgusting slimy smell. However, when he jumped back, he tripped over the cap, hit his head on a rock and the slimy substance went flying and almost spilled over everything! Monkey quickly whipped out his tail and caught the slimy smelly substance with his long, furry brown tail before it hit Ferret. "Oh, that smells wonderful. Maybe you should use it for shampoo!" sarcastic Monkey said. Frog threw up and it almost hit Monkey's feet. Monkey jumped back and said, "Yowsers! No thanks! I've already eaten today!" Monkey put the cap back on the formula and put it safely in the analyzer. Wise Ferret calmly said, "You know, if it smells that bad it might be might poisonous. We better not touch it. Let's wait for the shop keeper to come back." The next day, the store keeper came back to the shop. He was a tired and cranky man. It had been a long day for him yesterday. There had been too many customers at his 50 percent off sale, He had woken up for the sale too early and he was so tired he kept tripping over things and stepping on the tail of the 6 fanged lizard. He had also been robbed! Someone had taken all his crickets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He stumbled over to the cage and grabbed the water to fill up the water bowl. He did not realize that the water was not the usual water. He poured it into the shallow water bowl that Ferret, Monkey and Frog drank out of. Frog woke up feeling very parched and thirsty. He hopped very wearily, slumping over the bowl. He took a long sip. Ferret woke up next and looked at Frog at the water bowl. Something did not look right. Frog was licking his lips . . . .. . . . and turning purple. "Frog, you're turning purple." Frog's eyes widened. He looked at himself in the mirror by the cage, screamed and fell over asleep.

Monkey exclaimed, “Frog is turning purple!” Wise Ferret spots the bowl and discovers that the water was really the green goo. Next, Monkey spots a label on the container.
Ferret reads the label, “If you drink this you will turn purple.”
Monkey announced, “Well, Frog already turned purple!” Let’s hope the storekeeper doesn’t see Frog.
A second later the storekeeper walks in and sees the frog and says, “I must be seeing things because my frog is not supposed to be purple!” Then, he cried, “He was as green as fresh grass yesterday!”
Suddenly the door opens and in walks the first customer. He sees the purple frog and sprinted out the door! The next customer comes in and wants to buy the purple frog! He asks, “How much is the purple frog?”
The storekeeper answers, “He is not for sale!”

Meanwhile, Monkey said, “We have to save frog, we have to save frog! So what should we do?” Monkey and Ferret go to the computer and Google an anti-potion that will turn Frog green again. It says to go to Lava Falls, and look for a Lava cricket. The cricket must be eaten by the victim. It is possible to have a few side effects, like short term memory loss. Monkey squealed, “Hopefully, he won’t remember what happened at all.”
Ferret exclaimed, “We have Lava Crickets in our store!”
As they walk back over to locate their crickets, Monkey climbs on his tree and begins to hang upside down. While he is hanging, he discovered another label on the bottle that said, “If you eat one Lava cricket you will be cured from the purple illness. “Let’s go get the crickets,” said Monkey running toward the cage door.
“Wait a minute,” said Ferret, “The crickets were stolen!”
He is getting worse,” yelled Wise Ferret. “We have to solve this mystery soon or he may die,” said Ferret.

So Wise Ferret and Sarcastic Monkey came up with a brilliant plan. Well, actually it was Ferret’s plan and Monkey just went along with it. “I’ll hop on your tail and you’ll swing us through the trees until we reach Lava Falls,” Ferret cleverly suggested. “Who do you think I am, Tarzan?” Monkey answered back. Ferret ignored Monkey’s comment and sprung on his back like a pogo stick through the trees and finally reached Lava Falls before sundown. When they arrived, Monkey uttered, “Finally, that took forever!” “Not now,” Ferret replied. “We came to Lava Falls for one purpose only-to find the Lava Crickets so we can turn Frog back into being green as grass and no longer purple as grape jelly!” But before Monkey could give his sarcastic response, they spotted a very familiar face acting extremely suspicious. Ferret whispered to Monkey, “Hey, that’s the shopkeeper, Al. What’s he doing dumping out all those bags of crickets? He’s been telling everyone that his shop was robbed and all of his crickets were stolen! Doesn’t he know that the Lava Crickets are the only thing that will save our friend?” So, Monkey and Ferret marched right over to Al and tapped him on the shoulder. And with a thunderous shout, the two asked, “Can you please explain what you are doing with those crickets?” Caught off guard, Al muttered, “Uh…uh…

“Uhh hmm. Oh well I thought It was wrong to keep the crickets so I’m setting them free in their normal habitat.”
“But we need the lava crickets to turn our friend Frog back to his normal green colour.” Ferret pleaded with Al.
But Al said “Why would we do that. He is wonderful just the way he is. Just think how much money he is worth. Once I sell him I may never have to work again.” The Sarcastic Monkey said quickly. “You couldn’t call running a pet shop work could you?”
The Wise Ferret was beginning to think that something was very suspicious. He looked closely at the pet shop owner and then asked, “What is that shiney green goey stuff on your shoes?”
Al ‘s eyes popped open and his mouth hung down at first and then he stuttered as he tried to answer. “I, I, I don’t know what that is.”
Monkey said, “As if that is just chewing gum, we both know that that is the green slime that you fed our friend Frog.”
Ferret talked to Al to try and convince him that it was important to say sorry to Frog and to to turn him back to his real self but Al didn’t want to listen and he started to get quite angry with Ferret. He wanted to get back to the pet shop to make his fortune. However, while they were arguing the Sarcastic Monkey thought of an idea. He snuck Al’s drink bottle away and scooped some of the green slime from Al’s shoe heal into the bottle and mixed with the water.
Al was going quite red in the face so Monkey suggested that he should calm down and have a little drink of his water. Al grabbed the drink bottle and took a huge gulp of water. It wasn’t long before he started to turn purple just like the frog. Monkey and Ferret started to giggle and said look at you. You are as purple as our friend Frog.
At first Al was furious, he didn’t like being purple and didn’t want anyone to see him. He asked Monkey and Ferret to help him find a lava cricket so that he could change back. Ferret said, “We will help you but you have to promise to help Frog.” Al realised how mean he had been to Frog and promised to help change him back. He understood that he had been selfish and had learnt his lesson. Ferret and Monkey went back with the lava crickets to the shop and helped Frog turn back into his old self. Frog was very grateful and the three remained friends for the rest of their lives in Als Pet Shop while Al worked happily looking after all the animals.
