Progressive Story 10
Your class will be writing ONE group paragraph(s) for the story (not each student). The first class will write the intro paragraph(s). Then the next class will read the paragraph(s) and decide how they want to continue the story. This will continue until the last class on the list writes the ending and gives the story a title. Your paragraph(s) will be typed onto this Wiki page. You will also need to send (email as .jpg) the 3 pictures to me. The pictures should illustrate events in the section that your class wrote.
If you would like to share information about you email address, Skype name, iChat name, etc., please feel free to do so. Some teachers mentioned that they would like to actually "meet" some of the students that collaborate on their story.

DJ the Flying Lollipop was a very strong, healthy piece of candy. Even though he was made of sugar, DJ liked to eat healthy food and lift weights. DJ was new to the town of Candyland. He had just moved there and didn't know anyone. He needed to find a workout partner. DJ decided to fly around looking for someone to go with him to the gym. One day at Candyland Park, DJ saw a chubby, happy-looking gooey guy who was also made of sugar. DJ flew up to the gooey guy and said, "Hi, my name is DJ. I'm a flying lollipop." "Hello, I'm Ditto the Gooey Guy," Ditto said happily. "Do you like to workout?" DJ asked. "I don't know how to workout," explained Ditto. "I can teach you how to lift weights," DJ said. "Sure, I will workout with you," Ditto replied happily. "Will you be my friend?"
“Yes, I will be your friend!” Ditto shouted excitedly.
Ditto and DJ wasted no time. They raced to Candyland Fitness. DJ patiently taught Ditto how to lift weights. Soon Ditto could run 12 miles on the treadmill, do 21 chin-ups, 30 sit-ups, and bench press 290 pounds.
“Ditto, you’re not chubby anymore,” DJ said. “You are getting strong and muscular. Instead of Gooey Guy, we will have to call you Rock Candy Ditto.”
“Thank you for teaching me how to work out!” Ditto said with a smile on his face.
DJ asked, “Do you want to do a challenge?”
“I would be up for a challenge,” said Ditto in a proud voice.
The next day, DJ and Ditto rode to the peak of Mount Slimy on their bikes. Part of the challenge was to slide on melted chocolate ice cream, jump over 4 giant rainbow gumdrops, and get around a sleeping, red gummy bear. Finally, they made it to the top safely!
Looking out over Candyland, DJ asked Ditto, “Would you like to try out for the triathlon in Candy Carolina for the Candy Cup Championship?”
“Yes!” Ditto said out of breath. “If I can ride this far, I know I can swim, bike, and run in a triathlon.”
Ditto did a lot of training, like running on the treadmill, swimming, and riding bike.
“I think we should get more training,” said DJ. Just then the Candy Bar News happened to be watching.
“Wow,” said the reporter, “I really like you guys!”
“Would you be on my show?”
“Sure,” said DJ and Ditto.
“You will be on with Mr. Candy Corn.,” said the reporter.
“I know Mr. Candy Corn,” said DJ. DJ introduced Ditto to Mr. Candy Corn.
“Mr. Candy Corn won the Candy Cup Championship in 1999, and he got 2nd in the 2001 race,” DJ told Ditto. “He is a really good trainer.”
“He’s a trainer?” asked Ditto.
After they met, Mr. Candy Corn decided to be Ditto’s trainer.
The training was really difficult. Ditto had to run 3 miles on the Chocolate Chip road five times a week. He had to swim 18 miles in the Gumdrop River, and ride his bike 14 miles too. His bike had wheels made of cookies and the frame was made from Candy Canes.
There was a lot of lifting to do. Ditto had to carry 750 Chocolate Bars up Mount Slimy. He also had to lift up 100,000 candy lollipops.
Ditto was so nervous the day of the race. He decided to call DJ.
“Ditto, calm down. You will be okay. You did a great job through all your training,” said DJ. “You can do this. Just be yourself. Be strong and mighty. If you calm down you will be fine.”
“I hope I can do this,” said Ditto. “I don’t know if I can be as good as Mr. Candy Corn.”
“You can. I’ll see you at 5:30,” said DJ.
“Okay, see you there,” Ditto replied.
Ditto meet Mr. Candy Corn at the starting line. As Ditto got into position, the referee said, “Ready, On Your Mark, Get Set, GOOOOOO!”
Ditto went as fast as he could. Ditto saw something in front of him that he had to dive into, a large chocolate waterfall. Ditto’s swimsuit, made of rock candy, helped him to swim through the waterfall into the Popsicle River. “This is worst thing I have ever experienced”, said Ditto. All of a sudden, Mr. Marshmallow King zoomed past Ditto to take the lead. Mr. Candy Corn was watching the race and when Ditto was passed by Mr. Marshmallow King he knew that Ditto was in trouble. Ditto became furious and said to himself, “I can do this, I know I can beat him!” Coach Candy Corn saw Ditto begin to work harder and he yelled “Go Ditto, remember your training, you can do this!” While Coach Candy Corn was encouraging Ditto, DJ was watching him from the bleachers. DJ hoped that Ditto would remember his training and all of a sudden DJ saw Ditto zoom past Mr. Marshmallow King and get to the finish line first.
Ditto raced to his candy cane bike, which had cookie wheels, and he hopped on. Ditto began to pedal as fast as he could. Ditto’s bike ride did not go as well as he hoped because towards the end one of his wheels fell off! Mr. Marshmallow King knocked off his wheel by pouring chocolate on it, making his back wheel loose and he said “I will win!” Ditto had to figure out how to finish the race so he got his kiwi spare.
Out of nowhere, Starburst gets a "burst" of energy and catches up to Ditto and Mr. Marshmallow. The crowd goes wild. Ditto and Mr. Marshmallow picture the cotton candy filled chocolate trophy with the cherry on top at the finish line. It isn't enough to keep Starburst from crossing the finish line seconds ahead of Ditto and Mr. Marshmallow.
Ditto yells, "You didn't train as hard as I did cheater!"
Mr. Marshmallow stomps his feet and says, "It's not fair."
Starburst brags, "Ha, Ha, I won, you losers!"
The crowd is surprised at the outcome of the race and disappointed that the three racers are such poor sports. Mr. Candy Corn talks to Ditto, Mr. Marshmallow and Starburst as the crowd goes silent. They learned an important lesson that day.
you win or lose, it's
you win or lose.
They all shared the chocolate covered trophy filled with cotton candy with a cherry on top!
